Well Dressing in the Making
Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 July
11am - 4pm
A brief history of Well Dressing
The Well Dressing is celebrated at St. Chad’s Well at the heart of Chadkirk Country Estate. The tradition of dressing springs and wells with pictures made from petals, leaves and other materials, dates back to Celtic times.
Talented volunteers
Each year a talented and enthusiastic team of volunteers from across Stockport design and make the Well Dressing. It takes four days to complete and will last a week, before the clay dries and the flowers fade.
Why not take part?
Last year we upgraded our old Community Well Dressing Panel and created a brand new Community Pyramid! The Pyramid will be designed by different groups of people from across Stockport, including our Young Well Dressers group. Panels from the Pyramid will be in the Chapel during the week, so why not drop in, enjoy the atmosphere and have a go. Could you be a future Well Dresser?
FREE ENTRY to the making of the Well Dressing.
A small donation towards the flowers would be welcome.
Refreshments will be on sale.
Groups must book in advance due to limited space.
Please call: 0161 477 6517 for more details.
