CHADKIRK FESTIVAL WEEKEND
Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 July 2009
12 noon - 5pm
Adults: £1 - Children under 15: FREE
The main festival weekend will provide fun for all, with a packed schedule of things to see and do.
Throughout the weekend there will be:
Join the soldiers as they set up camp once again in Chadkirk Country Estate. Hear the trumpets sound as the soldiers march their way up Vale Road.
- Talks on Roman artillery and costume, various times on the main lawn. Children will have the opportunity to try on some Roman armour.
- Roman life-drawing on the main lawn. See how well you can draw the Roman soldier.
- Have a go at Archery or firing a Sling Shot (6 attempts for £1) in the Roman camp
‘Make and Take’ children’s activity in the Roman camp (for a small additional charge)
- Ya Raqs
The Arabic dancers will accompany the Romans and perform a traditional routine
- Jan Greenland
Join Jan as she demonstrates the history behind ‘Tussie-Mussies & Nosegays’.
- Tin’stle Bells
Returning once again, the group of hand-bell ringers will perform a well-honed repertoire
- Marple Brass Band
Playing traditional favourites at a very high standard
- Face Painting
Join in the spirit of the festival and have your face painted for the afternoon!
- Various craft stalls
There will be a variety of craft items on sale from jewellery to cards, books and ethnic objects to name but a few.

Roman Soldiers
From 12 noon until 5pm
Join the soldiers as they set up camp once again in Chadkirk Country Estate
Ya Raqs
From 12 noon until 5pm
The Arabic dancers will accompany the Romans and perform a traditional routine on the main lawn.
Join them afterwards, as they invite you to learn a few of their moves!
Jan Greenland
1pm - 1.30pm and 2pm - 2.30pm
Join Jan as she demonstrates the history behind ‘Tussie-Mussies & Nosegays’. A must for those with in interest in herbs and flowers. Jan brings with her a wealth of knowledge and is a regarded member of the Herb Society.
Tin’stle Bells
Throughout the afternoon, inside the Chapel
Join the Tin’stle Bells as they perform well known popular tunes within the beautiful setting of the Chapel.
Well Dressing
Join us as the Well is formally blessed at the beginning of the afternoon
