Conservation Chadkirk Country Estate is a haven for wildlife, helped by sympathetic and environmentally friendly ways of maintaining the various habitats. The meadows, pastures, woodland fringes and the gardens all provide valuable food and shelter to a wide variety of species including birds, invertebrates and small mammals.
What is an LNR? At the same time they can protect the most important places locally for wildlife and natural features, increase peoples awareness of the importance of nature and help to forge partnerships between local people, wildlife organisations and local authorities. Local Nature Reserves are a nationally recognised, statutory designation, established under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. A Bird feeding station has been set up and is managed by a local group of the RSPB (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds). Feeding takes place during September to June each year, to help over wintering birds and in the spring to provide a valuable food source for birds with young to feed.
